FastCampus Launches Kernel360 Developer Training Program with Inaugural Innovation Academy Dean, Minsuk Lee
– Aims to address the shortcomings of traditional boot camps through a developer training program
– Program incorporates the expertise of renowned figures such as Minsuk Lee, inaugural dean of Innovation Academy
– Provides a practical, hands-on development cycle by simulating real company training methods
August 1, 2023 – FastCampus, a Corporate-Incubated Company (CIC) of Day1 Company (CEO Kangmin Lee), has launched a new developer employment program, Kernel360, in collaboration with Minsuk Lee, the inaugural dean of Innovation Academy.
FastCampus, responsible for professional training content and B2B corporate education within Day1 Company, has been at the forefront of driving growth in the adult education market with cutting-edge content tailored to current trends.
Kernel360, the newly launched program, seeks to address the limitations of traditional boot camps by nurturing self-directed developers with both problem-solving abilities and soft skills. The curriculum, developed by Minsuk Lee and veteran directors EunJong Park and Joeun Park, who each bring over 20 years of experience in development, boosts the program’s credibility.
Traditional developer training programs often focus too heavily on technical knowledge, failing to produce talent with the problem-solving skills companies demand. Kernel360 aims to bridge this gap by allowing participants to design their own projects during an initial idea workshop, followed by a 6-month-long hackathon and project cycle, giving them deeper insights into development and hands-on problem-solving experience.
One of the standout features of Kernel360 is its project-based approach, devoid of lectures, allowing participants to work in shared offices to simulate real company environments. The program centers around developing AWS-based projects, ensuring students are exposed to cutting-edge cloud environments, which are increasingly in demand in the industry.
Shin Haedong, CEO of FastCampus CIC, explained, “Kernel360 selects students in the same way companies recruit, focusing on learning through problem-solving rather than traditional studying. By the end of the program, participants will have developed exceptional engineering skills and teamwork capabilities, making them indispensable assets to companies.” Minsuk Lee, the inaugural dean of Innovation Academy, added, “I’ve always been committed to fostering the next generation of developers, experimenting with various methods. Kernel360 is the culmination of that knowledge and experience. Participants will train in a real-world development cycle, learning to collaborate and grow together, rather than competing, much like in a professional setting.”
