FastCampus Launches Bestseller Author Kim Young-ha’s Writing Course

June 18, 2021 – FastCampus, a leading adult education content provider in Korea (CEO Kangmin Lee), announced the release of a new writing course titled “Finding Your True Story: The Practice of Storytelling” by Kim Young-ha, a bestselling author known for works like “The Plotters” and “Reasons for Travel.”

Kim Young-ha is a highly recognized author in Korea, having won numerous literary awards, including the 36th Yi Sang Literary Award in 2012 and the 9th Kim Yujeong Literary Award in 2015. In 2020, his thriller “The Plotters” earned him the International Section of the German Mystery Literature Award and the German Independent Publishers Literature Prize. In addition to his novels and essays, Kim has gained public recognition through his appearances on popular TV shows such as tvN’s knowledge-entertainment program “The Dictionary of Useless Knowledge.” Though he has lectured widely on writing in various public and university settings, this marks his first time offering a course on writing and storytelling in an online format.

The course provides insights into Kim Young-ha’s writing process and practical advice for crafting engaging stories that readers love. It is divided into five sections covering topics such as “Understanding the Power and Rules of Storytelling,” “Setting Up Events and Characters,” “Creating Compelling Plots,” and “Perfecting Your Story through Rewriting.”

In addition to the core lessons, the course includes a conversation with Kim Gyeoul (Kim Ji-hye), a popular book YouTuber who runs the channel “Winter Bookstore.” Gyeoul will engage Kim Young-ha in a dialogue based on questions from her subscribers, addressing common challenges faced by those looking to improve their writing skills.

Reflecting on his course, Kim Young-ha stated, “In my 25 years of writing, I’ve wrestled with the question of ‘How do you write something readers actually want to read?’ This course distills those years of experience and effort. I’ll share ways to bring out the stories hidden inside you and transform them into unique, engaging pieces of writing through observation, writing, and revision.”

FastCampus CEO Kangmin Lee remarked, “Anyone who wants to improve their writing has probably thought, ‘I wish I could write like Kim Young-ha.’ This course offers the opportunity to learn from the very best. FastCampus will continue to deliver practical, applicable educational content that creates exceptional customer experiences.”

Kim Young-ha’s “Finding Your True Story: The Practice of Storytelling” is currently available for pre-order and will be officially released on July 20.
